Re-sale shopper alert: A new Sallie Mae store opens Saturday at 2230 Berlin Turnpike in Newington. The Salvation Army store thrift stocks men’s, women’s and children’s clothing and housewares. Grand opening activities take place from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. (If you’re out on the trail of second-hand goods, you can also check out the Savers just up the road at 3137 Berlin Turnpike in Newington and the Goodwill store at the corner of Costello Road and Berlin Turnpike, (near Footprints), also in Newington.)
